| About Sutapa |
Sutapa’s musical journey unfolded through her performance for the All India Radio at the age of only four years.
One of the most versatile vocalists of recent times, Sutapa, started singing in accurate pitch at the age of one year. Born in a musical family, Sutapa started taking her musical lessons or taalim at the age of only two and half years from her mother Manjushree Bhattacharya and father Sunil Bhattacharya.
At the age of three she could sing numbers of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Sandhya Mukherjee, Arati Mukherjee , Pratima Banerjee & Nirmala Mishra. Since then Sutapa started learning Indian Vocal Music.
Through her childhood she was lucky to have the privilege of growing along with her brother Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, the internationally acclaimed classical guitarist and Subasish Bhattacharya the renowned tabla player.
Sutapa developed a nack thru her child hood to listen to all forms of Indian and International Music. She was not only attracted towards Indian Music but also Western Music. She inherited the golden voice of her grandfather and parent, she was enchanted with the tonal quality and voice rendition of her yester generations, sutapa from her childhood wanted to have an enchanting, melodious voice so as to sing all forms of music. She consciously developed a flexible voice texture, which has enabled her to float around the world of music.
Sutapa is an earnest learner of music and whenever opportunity comes while traveling for performances within & outside India, she has never left any opportunities unutilized for collecting and developing new forms and styles of music. |
