Sutapa’s renowned music institute Swar-O-Shruti was established in 1991 in Kolkata. This is an academy where students from different age groups come to learn music. Workshops, lecture demonstrations, performances are regularly organized. Students from India as well as abroad come to learn music
 With an aim to cultivate the musical arts this institute has been extensively involved in researching, propagating and promoting the various forms of Indian music with Sutapa at its helm.
Since it’s inception, students and scholars of music have been coming here to gain deeper insights into the realm of Indian music.
Eminent artists like Pt. Vijay Kumar Kichlu, Pt.Brij Bhushan Kabra, Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri, Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, Pt. Basant Kabra, Nirmala Mishra, Haimanti Shukla, Pintu Bhattacharya and many other luminaries have enriched the institute with their presence and advice. There have also been memorable performances by many great artists among them.
At this institute voice training, aspects of vocal music, genres of Indian songs and evaluation through workshops and lec-dems attract learners from all over the world.
